Scotland, James VI (1567-1625), silver Merk of Thirteen Shillings and Fourpence, 1602, Eighth Coinage, crowned Scottish arms.

The abbreviated Latin legends translate as on the obverse “James the Sixth, by the Grace of God, King of Scotland” and on the reverse “Jehovah protects the King.

James was the son of Mary Queen of Scotts he ruled Scotland from 1567. Upon the death of Queen Elizabeth 1st he then unified the thrownes of Scotald and England where he ruled until 1625.
