Victoria 1839 UNA Crown

The story of UNA comes from one of the longest Poems in British History written by Edmund Spencer between 1590 & 1596 called "The Faerie Queene". The figure of UNA was actually meant to be Elizabeth 1st and the Lion represents the Nation of Britain under her guardianship.

William Wyons portrait of the young Victoria is one of the most enduring images of the entire British Series and was produced for 49 years. Featured on Quarter, Half & Third Fathings and Farthings, Halfpenny, Penny,Three Halfpence, Twopence, Threepence, Fourpaence, Sixpence, Shilling, Half Crown, Crown, Half Sovereign & Sovereign.

The Crowns produced from 1839 - 1847 had a pattern engraved on the hair band whilst all the other denominations where left plain.

Born Princess Alexandrina Victoria of Kent on the 28th May 1818. She was the daughter of Prince Edward the fourth son of George 111. She was eighteen when she took to the thrown, she died at the age of 81 in Osbourne House on the Isle Of White. She was the last British Monarch of the House of Hanover.
